What is Day Treatment?
Day Treatment is a combination of services offered on one location in an effort to keep youth in the community. Number 34 offers youth mentoring, individual counseling, group counseling, group activities, family nights, life skills, and distance-learning education.

How do youth enter the program?Youth are Court-ordered to participate in the program as an alternative to being placed outside their home for committing a delinquent act. Often times Number 34 is the last option available to keep the family intact.

Who pays for the program?
The Department of Family Services pays for the youth to participate in the program on a case-by-case basis.

Can youth who are not Court-ordered to Number 34 participate in Day Treatment and/or Day Treatment Extended Services?
Yes, Number 34 recognizes the needs of youth and families that are not in the Juvenile Justice System. Fees for the services can be negotiated with the Executive Director.

How long is the program?
There are many hours of required services for the youth and family to complete. The program is designed to be fully completed in four months.

What are the requirements for the youth to complete the program?
The completion of the program for the youth will be based on:

  • Mentoring - 80 hours
  • Counseling - 15 hours
  • Group Counseling - 20 hours
  • Family Nights - 3 nights at Number 34
  • Family Planned Family Nights - 2 nights planned by the family
  • Group Activity - 85 hours
  • Education - Completing all enrolled on-line classes with APEX Learning
  • Life Skills - Completion of all assignments

What is Day Treatment Extended Services?
Day Treatment Extended Services is a condensed version of Day Treatment without Number 34 providing APEX Learning.

What are the requirements for the youth to complete the program?
The completion of the program for the youth will be based on:

  • Mentoring - 45 hours
  • Counseling - 15 hours
  • Group Counseling - 20 hours
  • Family Nights - 3 nights at Number 34
  • Family Planned Family Nights - 2 nights planned by the family
  • Group Activity - 85 hours
  • Education - Completing 45 hours of tutoring
  • Life Skills - Completion of all assignments

Are there any services provided to the parents?
Number 34 offers parent mentoring, counseling, and family nights.

What is a family night?
Number 34 opens their doors twice a month, usually a Friday or Saturday night, and brings all the families of youth enrolled in the program together for dinner, fun, games, movies, or whatever else is decided on by the youth and staff at Number 34. Family nights are designed to bring the youth and families together to engage in positive activities. The youth and families are also required to plan their own family nights away from Number 34.

What is required of the parents to complete the program?
The completion of the Day Treatment and/or Extended Services program will be based on:

  • Mentoring - 25 hours for Day Treatment; 15 hours for Extended Services program 
  • Counseling - 14 hours
  • Family Nights - 4 nights for Day Treatment at Number 34; 3 nights at Number 34 for Extended Services program
  • Family Planned Family Nights - 2 nights planned by the family
